24 Healing Space

According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (2019), domestic violence exists to all age, socioeconomic, and demographic groups, however, particularly affects women and children. Therefore, the submission of healing space construction was applied. 24 Healing Space is located at Ley Street, Como, Western Australia where the surrounding is supporting its intention, which includes Age Care and family park where the suburb itself is a safe area for the victims.
The concept of this project is to create an encouraging space for women and children to interact through visual, verbal, and physical. Space will be designed to encourage each individual to have interaction between each other where the approach of each journey will increase the number of people. With depth research, space will have 5 journeys which consist of Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, Eye Movement Desensitisation, and Reprocessing, Group Treatment Approaches, exposure-based Treatment, Coping-Skill Based Treatment. Those journeys are based on psychological treatment to heal the trauma.
There are three main spaces that have been shown below. The first one is an Eye Movement Desensitisation, start from the entrance of this journey, the occupant can play with the lighting toy that can be rotated to create a different shape to calm them. Moreover, the main journey is an assembled steel attached by lighting with different size and height. The second journey is Group Treatment Approaches, there is an acoustic umbrella where each occupant can talk to each other without being bothered by others. Thus, they won't feel scared to share with the one they trust. The last journey that has Coping-Skill Based Treatment, it is a meditation space for the to be calmed and do a quiet activity. The space designed with all dark timber and dim dark to feel more intimate with others.
